Walked the Lot

Jan 21, 2020. We walked around the Ocean View Ranchos lot this morning, taking various measurements and noting wi-fi access points. Neighbor Ron’s router actually shows a bar or two on the lot. By coincidence he drove by just then and chatted with us, and even offered the password.

A possible site for a small sun shelter is right behind the grassy area in this picture. Relatively easy access to Alii Drive.
Up on the highland of the lot, there is actually an access road of sorts. We spent time walking the various roads, trying to find one that went all the way to the street.

We didn’t finish at the lot until 1:15 pm. At that time, we decided to drive up to Captain Cook for a late lunch.

We found this Kona Grill House on Yelp in Kealakekua. With a chain link fence all around, and auto shop next door, it looked like an industrial lot when we pulled up.
They had a covered area for eating outside.
Catch of the day was Opa. $13.79 for a plate. Cooked to perfection, that is, just barely. Any longer, it would be dry, and shorter, it would be sashimi.
Some sparrows came by and I tossed them some brown rice from my plate.
A Saffron Finch.

After eating, we visited Kealakekua Bay. It was a rather long drive down.

Kealakekua Bay was the site of an ancient Hawaiian Heiau and gathering place.

We returned to Kona Grill House a second time to get Poke bowls to go for dinner, and 2 slices of pie – choc chip macadamia (like pecan), and Reese’s peanut butter – for the next day’s breakfast.

We need to get out of the AirBnb at 6:30 or so tomorrow in order to drive to Kona, fill gas, and return the car in time for our flight.
