At breakfast we talked with another houseguest, Sybille from Germany. Sybille commented on how much Americans waste in water, energy, food, and packaging. She also said that where she lived, someone would NEVER take in a pair of unknown cyclists.

There was a digital scale in the bathroom, so I decided to weigh my gear.
- Rear Panniers: 24 lbs.
- Front Handlebar Pack: 4 lbs.
- Gear on Rear Rack (tent, pad, sleeping bag): 8 lbs.
- Front Panniers: 8 lbs.

We had hoped to make McKenzie Bridge that day, but Merrianne bonked, so we stopped just past the town of Nimrod.
The next stop was Fry’s Double J motel, just before McKenzie Bridge. I guess it was called the “Double” motel because it had two rooms.

We paid $35 for a 1 bed room, but the room had 2 beds, anyway. There was a nice restaurant just down the road, the Village Cafe, where we had 2 full dinners, including soup, salad, drinks, and homemade pies for dessert. $13.15 for both of us.
