Florence, OR 2

The next day, we did sightseeing in Florence, and camped at a very moist and green campground, about 15 miles inland. We were pleased to see that it had flush toilets, rather than pit toilets as stated in the brochure. There would be ample opportunity later to experience pit toilets.

We did some sightseeting in Florence for most of the day. Since we had eaten at Mo’s the day before, we chose Bridgewater Seafood Restaurant this time.
We actually didn’t start riding out until 3 pm.
Our original plan was to make Honeyman campground, but since we got such a late start, we stopped at cool, shady Archie Knowles Campgournd after only 15 miles.

People were incredibly friendly. So many were interested in our bikes and our trip. One man said that if the campground weren’t so close, he’d offer his lawn for us to camp on. A woman and her husband were camping in an RV, and offered us coleman fuel. I had already filled my 24-ounce metal fuel bottle with unleaded, at a cost of 20ยข.

Merrianne and I retreated into the tent to rest for a while, but soon heard a Rustle! Rustle! Peck! Peck! Peck! sound outside. A Bluejay was eating our cookies, right through the plastic bag!
