I awoke early, and walked the streets at 6:30 am. The town was certainly different at that hour. There weren’t any tourists crowding the streets and souvenir shops. A look at the weather channel showed that the barometer was 30.35, the temperature 40 degrees, and the humidity 0-1%. I certainly felt dry, but that might have been a result of eating an entire salty chicken and a box of chicken-in-a-biskit the previous night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As it was Sunday, I went to church.<\/p>\nIt was a presbyterian church called community protestant. the sermon was a reminder that prayer is difficult, but also the best thing we can do.<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Afterwards, I decided to go back to Norris campground in the park. Staying in a motel was too expensive unless I was going to church the next day.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

I did a bunch of errands in town, like laundry and mailing, and didn’t head back into the actual National Park until after 2 pm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The campgrounds in Yellowstone had special bear-proof lockers to keep food in, and special sinks that flush.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

It’s not a toilet, it’s a sink. And the dripping is intentional. It got so cold, freezing was a definite possibility.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Before bed, I attended a campfire talk given by a smiling, slow-speaking Mr. Rogers type. He never seemed to blink or stop smiling. He was the kind of guy I would expect to be a psycho or rapist.<\/p>\nnevertheless, it was a fascinating talk about the animals (most vicious when protecting eggs or young), and the forest cycle (includes fires).<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
