{"id":5,"date":"2016-12-12T04:32:50","date_gmt":"2016-12-12T12:32:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pididu.com\/wordpress\/basicscope\/?page_id=5"},"modified":"2018-05-09T10:11:59","modified_gmt":"2018-05-09T17:11:59","slug":"about","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/pididu.com\/wordpress\/basicscope\/about\/","title":{"rendered":"About"},"content":{"rendered":"<h5>History<\/h5>\n<p>My first high-tech job (if fixing arcade video games doesn&#8217;t count) was on a digital oscilloscope project in 1978. \u00a0The prototype sampled at an incredible 1000 MHz, one channel, and cost, I think, about $250k (add another zero for today&#8217;s dollars). \u00a0My job was simply to write a user interface to process the data.<\/p>\n<p>It is the end of 2016 as I write this. \u00a0I&#8217;m retired, and bought a digital oscilloscope that samples at 48 MHz, two channels, for $70. \u00a0But the included software had some weaknesses, so I&#8217;m writing my own user interface.<\/p>\n<p>Feels like old times.<\/p>\n<h5>About BasicScope<\/h5>\n<p>BasicScope is written in plain c, with Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Express, and the Hantek 6022BE SDK.<\/p>\n<p>The philosophy of this project is to cover 95% of the author&#8217;s needs (and by proxy, hopefully 95% of other hobbyist&#8217;s needs) in an easy-to-use, consistent manner. \u00a0As such, BasicScope lacks the extended functionality of programs like Open 6022BE (<strong>respect<\/strong> to its author, RichardK, who wrote it 4 years ago), or even the OEM software, but what BasicScope does do, it will hopefully do well.<\/p>\n<h5>About the Author<\/h5>\n<p>Hi, I&#8217;m Roderick. \u00a0If you are reading this page, then you have already found my website, pididu.com . \u00a0I&#8217;m technically retired, but never say that I &#8220;used to be&#8221; an Engineer, any more than \u00a0a retired Marine would say they &#8220;used to be&#8221; a Marine.<\/p>\n<p>Although I do write software when the need arises, I don&#8217;t think of myself as a programmer. \u00a0My formal training is in analog electronics.<\/p>\n<p>You will need to register before you are able to post.
