Basically, we didn&#8217;t have to pay Skagway prices for breakfast (the hotel breakfast buffet was $18.95), and just made oatmeal.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure style=\"width: 800px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" title=\"bags out time\" alt=\"green and black bags are ours\" src=\"http:\/\/pididu.com\/wordpress\/alaska2015\/files\/2015\/05\/BagsOut.jpg\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">7 am was &#8220;bags out&#8221; time, meaning that any bags that we wanted the tour company to transport had to be sitting outside the room. I think we won the contest for smallest checked baggage, with the front 2 bags for Merrianne and Roderick, with the rear 2 bags for Jackie and Steve.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure style=\"width: 800px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" title=\"wait I think I need a ride\" alt=\"wait I think I need a ride\" src=\"http:\/\/pididu.com\/wordpress\/alaska2015\/files\/2015\/05\/JustinSamantha.jpg\" width=\"800\" height=\"619\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Justin, our tour guide, advised us that we would be walking ONE block to the train station. I&#8217;m recording in 320&#215;240 for file size. The train took as as far as Fraiser, Canada, where we transferred to a bus.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 800px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" title=\"TrailerStore1\" alt=\"TrailerStore1\" src=\"http:\/\/pididu.com\/wordpress\/alaska2015\/files\/2015\/05\/TrailerStore1.jpg\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">We stopped in Carcross, which was originally called Caribou Crossing. I didn&#8217;t see much of interest there, except that many of the new stores were portable trailers. Ingenious.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" title=\"TrailerStore2\" alt=\"store on wheels\" src=\"http:\/\/pididu.com\/wordpress\/alaska2015\/files\/2015\/05\/TrailerStore2.jpg\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 800px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Yukon desert\" alt=\"Yukon desert\" src=\"http:\/\/pididu.com\/wordpress\/alaska2015\/files\/2015\/05\/desert.jpg\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">We passed by a small desert, a rare thing in the Yukon Territory. The bus driver said it was an ancient beach.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure style=\"width: 800px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" title=\"rental bikes\" alt=\"rental bikes\" src=\"http:\/\/pididu.com\/wordpress\/alaska2015\/files\/2015\/05\/RentalBikes.jpg\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">As we had eaten on the train and bus, we didn&#8217;t need lunch when we arrived in Whitehorse, Canada. It was a clean, beautiful city, and I didn&#8217;t have the feeling that everyone was trying to make a buck off me, like in Skagway, Alaska. We rested a bit at the hotel, then rented bikes. It was $12.50 for 2 hours.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure style=\"width: 800px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" title=\"island detour\" alt=\"island detour\" src=\"http:\/\/pididu.com\/wordpress\/alaska2015\/files\/2015\/05\/detour.jpg\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">We took a detour onto a small island, which turned out to be rough riding due to exposed roots.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"roots.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/pididu.com\/wordpress\/alaska2015\/files\/2015\/05\/roots.jpg\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Eagle's Nest\" alt=\"Eagle's Nest\" src=\"http:\/\/pididu.com\/wordpress\/alaska2015\/files\/2015\/05\/EaglesNest.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Along the ride, we saw signs of Beaver activity, arctic squirrels, and even an Eagle&#8217;s nest.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure style=\"width: 800px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Klonkike Rib and Salmon\" alt=\"Klonkike Rib and Salmon\" src=\"http:\/\/pididu.com\/wordpress\/alaska2015\/files\/2015\/05\/RibAndSalmon.jpg\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">After returning the bikes, we had dinner at Klondike Rib and Salmon. Fantastic food, and huge portions.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.5;\">It&#8217;s 11:10 <\/span><strong style=\"line-height: 1.5;\">pm<\/strong><span style=\"line-height: 1.5;\"> as I write this.
